OUR BELIEFS

We believe the Bible is the word of God and we teach it verse by verse, chapter by chapter, and book by book. Our name tells our purposes-- to please our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; to teach the Bible in a creative, practical way and to have loving fellowship within a church family of devoted Christians. We believe that to be a great church, we all must have a great commitment to "the great commission" and "the great commandment" of Christ.

The great commandment Guides our worship and our fellowship: "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39

The great commission Guides our witness in the world: "And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen." Matthew 28:18-20

ABOUT THE BIBLE

We believe that God has revealed essential truth about Himself, the world, and His eternal plan in written form called the Holy Bible. The Scriptures, as embodied in 39 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament books, are the only trustworthy written source of revelation from God. The Holy Bible alone is the inerrant, infallible, and authoritative written Word of God. We believe that God's written revelation through the original apostles of Jesus has completed and closed all written communication from God.

ABOUT THE LORD

We believe that there is one, true, living God Who exists eternally in three distinct Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jehovah God is eternally sovereign over all things which He has created for His own divine purposes and glory. He is always revealing Himself through creation (natural revelation), through the Bible (written revelation) and by His gracious illumination of the human heart (spiritual revelation).

ABOUT THE SAVIOR

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was, is, and always shall be the physical manifestation of God in human form. He was, is, and always shall be the eternal Son of God, second member of the Triune Godhead, co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. We believe that His incarnation was by supernatural conception and the virgin birth. He lived a perfect and holy life, was continuously filled with the Holy Spirit, and perpetually in submission to the will of the Father. He fulfilled all the prophecies, types, and promises of the Old Testament Scriptures proving He was and is the Messiah of God. He died voluntarily, sacrificially, and vicariously on the cross for the sins of the world in general and for the sin of "the elect" in particular. He rose from the dead, ascended, and is currently alive in heaven at the right hand of the Father as the one and only Mediator, Intercessor and Advocate for those who have been called to trust in Him. Jesus Christ is the only existing way of salvation and eternal life – there can be no hope of forgiveness, acquittal from eternal judgment, and everlasting life outside of faith in Christ and His atoning sacrifice on the cross.

ABOUT SALVATION

We believe that all human beings are conceived and born under the control of the natural trait of rebellion, called the sin nature, which has been passed down from our first ancestors, Adam and Eve. This spiritual dysfunction is called depravity and is what separates all people from God prior to salvation in Jesus Christ. The rebellious sin nature is at war against God and will not repent or submit to Him without a gracious work of the Holy Spirit called conviction. Upon feeling this inner guilt and sorrow for sin, the person being drawn to salvation will feel the desperate need to repent from his or her old way of life apart from and against God. When this repentant person then learns of Jesus" death and resurrection, he or she gladly believes, calls upon Him for forgiveness, and welcomes Him into his or her heart by faith. Nothing more and nothing less than this will procure the gift of salvation. The proof of salvation is a fresh regenerated spirit, love for God and His Word the Bible, abandonment of trusting other things, disgust for sin, and a love for other Christians.

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is the third member of the Triune Godhead, co-equal with the Father and the Son. His powerful but unseen ministry is that of first causing men, women, boys and girls to understand their need for Jesus as their Savior. Upon turning to Christ and receiving Him as personal Savior and Lord, the Holy Spirit enters the innermost part of him or her forever, securely placing them in the family of God, "the body of Christ". He then abides within to begin changing the new believer's thoughts, feelings and lifestyle to be like Jesus. The Holy Spirit also helps enlighten the Christian on how to personally understand and apply the Bible in life. He also equips every believer with one or more spiritual abilities (called "spiritual gifts") so they can be fulfilled and fruitful in life by serving God and others in a church family He directs them to join. The Holy Spirit also leads, Guides, protects, comforts, convicts, counsels, empowers, and fills the Christian throughout his or her lifetime on earth.

ABOUT THE CHURCH

We believe that from God's heavenly perspective there is one church made up of all true believers (saints) around the world. We also believe that the Bible is clear that every believer is commanded to be part of a "local church" (family of true followers of Jesus). The word "church" means "called out ones" so it is important to understand that God will always lead His "called out" people to faithfully attend, support, and get involved with the best group of Christians possible wherever they live. Biblical churches always emphasize worship that is reverent and Christ-centered; practical expository Bible teaching; biblically qualified pastors, elders, and deacons; wholesome and encouraging fellowship; opportunities to get involved serving; and personal evangelism and missions to spread the gospel message. A good church is also where the Lord's two ordinances of baptism by immersion and communion or the Lord's Table are faithfully observed.

About Christ's Coming

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming again to establish the kingdom of God on earth. We believe that it will be a literal 1000-year (millennial) reign of Christ on a restored earth that is filled with the glory of God. Prior to His 2nd coming will be a 7-year Tribulation Period of terrible trouble on the earth complicated with the outpouring of the wrath of God. We believe that just prior to the beginning of the Tribulation that Christ will evacuate (rapture) away all believers of the Church Age to meet Him in the clouds above earth and then on to heaven to wait out the Tribulation Period. This event is called "the blessed hope" and we believe that its possibility is always imminent, so we aspire to have lives and testimonies that are above reproach and pleasing in His sight at all times.

ABOUT ETERNAL DESTINY

We believe the Scriptures are clear that the souls of humans never cease to exist. The eternality of the human soul is part of being created in the image of God. The Bible is clear that at the time of physical death, the body dies but the soul and spirit survive eternally. Those who have sincerely trusted Christ as personal Savior and Lord are assured of instantaneous presence with the Lord in heaven at death. All others who foolishly did not put all their trust in Christ and His cross work are assured of conscious, permanent, hopeless confinement in the place called hell, to await final sentencing to the Lake of Fire at the Great White Throne Judgment of God. According to God's Word there are no other post-death locations or states of existence. There is only heaven or hell – forever. One's destiny is based upon whether a person has truly repented of their sins and answered the Spirit's call to trust only in Jesus Christ and the gospel message about Him.
